Great Lakes Rehabilitation Center

My son agreed to go to Best Drug Rehab after this last time he overdosed on heroin. He had overdosed once before but refused to go to treatment at the time. This time we found him passed out in the bathroom of our home during his little sister’s birthday party. It was a nightmare to say the least. I’m not sure what made he finally agree to go to treatment, whether he was just scared he was going to die if he kept it up or realizing that he was killing the people around him just as surely as he was killing himself. My husband and I had been researching treatment centers since we realized that our son was using heroin. We had talked to the intake counselors before but couldn’t really do much without our son’s agreement to go. It looked like such a great place and every time I spoke to someone on the phone they were extremely helpful in giving me advice on how to get my son to realize he needed help. As soon as he was checked out of the hospital he flew straight to BDR. The intake counselor had given us a list of what to put in his suitcase so we didn’t to stop anywhere for him to pack and change his mind. When he got to Best Drug Rehab he was so severely underweight that it was hard to look at him. He had gotten a little better in the hospital but I was still worried about his overall health. One of the reasons we picked Best Drug Rehab was that they had a personal trainer that works there and meets with all the patients. I was assured that once my son finished detox and moved to the main building he would meet with the trainer and work out an exercise routine along with the right kind of diet so that he could gain his weight back while still remaining healthy. I’ve always believed that a healthy body helps you keep your mind in a good place and I really like that they work on everything at Best Drug Rehab. Mind, body and soul. Before my son went there and I watched all the videos of Best Drug Rehab and talked to the intake counselor, it made so much sense to me to not just work on the addiction but instead really work on every aspect of the patient’s life. Hearing the difference in my son’s voice as he called us throughout his program was amazing. He started to actually talk to his father and I and wasn’t calling for the sole purpose of asking for money. I really appreciate the different programs they have there and that all of them are done without giving my son different drugs. I’m finally able to talk to my son when he’s completely sober and I haven’t been able to do that since he was 17. We went to visit him a couple weeks ago and it’s unbelievable how much he’s changed for the better. He’s back up to the weight he’s supposed to be at and he looks fantastic. He’s smiling and good natured again and yet he’s told us what his plans are and how he is going to accomplish them. It’s incredible what this rehab has been able to do for my son. I’m so happy we were able to find such a great place for him to go.

Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center

Strengths: Counseling, food, support, for the religious the church, the classes. For those people who want recovery it's an absolutely wonderful place to be. Weaknesses: For a place that's for profit I think the rooms and a few accommodations could be better but all in all it's wonderful. My experience at Sacred Heart was wonderful people reached out to me took time to talk to me when I wanted to talk to them my surrender was complete so I was willing to learn what they had to tell me they go out of their way to try to help and to set you up with secondary care Sacred Heart is a wonderful wonderful place
