Rehabs 360 Guide

Part of Allina Health, a not-for-profit healthcare provider, Cambridge Medical Center, formerly known as Dellwood Recovery Center, provides a continuum of programming for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Located in Cambridge, Minnesota, 47 miles north of Minneapolis, Cambridge Medical Center provides inpatient, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults, as well as a comprehensive IOP for adolescents.

If necessary, the hospital-based facility also provides medically monitored detoxification services.

According to Cambridge Medical’s website, clients undergo an initial substance abuse assessment upon admission to determine an appropriate level of care and to form an individualized treatment plan. The facility also offers same-day, walk-in assessments.

Programming is based on the concepts of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the 12 Steps and cognitive therapies. During treatment, patients may attend life skills groups, health and healing therapies, mental health groups, and individual therapy. Around-the-clock nursing care is also offered. Clients may also attend SMART Recovery meetings.

Cambridge Medical offers a program for loved ones on the process of recovery. It includes group sessions, educational materials and private conferences for the client with their concerned persons.

Offering similar treatment approaches as inpatient, PHP involves six hours of daily programming, while IOP provides three-hour treatment sessions in the morning and evening. IOP is only available to clients who have completed primary care with the facility or elsewhere.

The outpatient-based adolescent program is also based on 12-step concepts and accommodates school and community schedules. The program includes a Teen Intervene! program, which consists of four one-hour individual sessions with a licensed counselor. The sessions utilize an interview format to help adolescents evaluate the consequences of their substance use. Reviewer feedback suggests a mentorship program with recovering alumni may be available as well.
