Bryan Independence Center offers hospital-based treatment for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. The Bryan Independence Center – a division of Bryan Medical Center – is a drug and alcohol treatment center in southeast Nebraska. Located near a park, this center is one of the state's 41 (30.1 percent) residential treatment programs. According to its website, the center has an inpatient treatment for adults and adolescents, short-term residential treatment, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

The facility is also amongst the 11 (8.1 percent) substance abuse treatment centers in Nebraska to offer medical detoxification services on-site.


According to the facility's website, Bryan Independence Center’s treatment is founded on 12-step principles. The center focuses on group therapy, spiritual assistance, and also addresses co-occurring mental health disorders. Most residential clients stay between two and three weeks, and detoxification lasts about one week.

The Bryan Independence Center also emphasizes transitioning clients into life after treatment through three different outpatient programs -- one that meets only once a week, and two intensive programs that meet for three hours each week.

In the state of Nebraska, 2.81 percent of adolescents ages 12 to 17 experienced illicit drug use disorder, as of 2016. This facility is one of the only 33 (24.3 percent) in the state with treatment for teens ages 13 to 18 who are struggling with drug abuse. Parents and guardians of teens struggling with substance abuse can participate in a support group for free.

In addition, educational programs and presentations are presented by the facility’s staff on anger, nutrition, sleep and physical problems resulting from substance abuse, among other topics.


Bryan Independence Center's website notes the treatment team includes a teacher, nurses, licensed counselors, mental health technicians, psychiatrists, and a spiritual counselor. In Nebraska, 98.2 percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the matter generally approved of the staff.

Bedrooms equipped with twin beds, dressers, and desks are shared and separated into different areas for men, women, and teens. Washers and dryers are available for clients to use, as are treadmills.

Weekly trips to nearby Bryan LifePointe for aerobics or swimming lessons are available. Meals are provided for people in residential care, and partial care recipients receive lunch, according to the website. The five Rehabs.com survey respondents to date had positive feelings for the facility's upkeep, but noted that extracurricular activities were somewhat lacking:

The six alumni polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback and indicated they would recommend Bryan Independence Center. Of the four alumni polled on the staff level of support, three awarded perfect five-star ratings, and one offered a high rating of four out of five stars. "Just was impressed with the food, the facilities and councilors," one alum wrote. "This treatment Center had given me a chance to live and learn the tools to for preventive maintenance," another former client added.

Holistic offerings received mixed feedback, from two to five stars, but alumni found leisure activities to be above-average, all giving four or five stars for this category. One alum wrote:"We had a few meetings per day otherwise we sat in our rooms and did nothing but dwell on our problems." Still, all alumni who were polled on whether or not treatment was worth the cost indicated that it was.

On Google, the facility has an average rating of four out of five stars based on three five-star ratings and a single one-star rating to date.[1] Former client J.R. wrote: "The staff and facility are above and beyond."

The facility's Facebook page, which its staff can monitor, has an even higher average rating of 4.6 out of five stars from 32 users to date.[2] A few one-star reviewers cite poor customer service, but the majority of comments discussed the high-quality staff: "Best staff in the world!" one representative post reads.


Of the three loved ones polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, two left positive feedback, while one left a neutral review.

Without leaving any written feedback, one individual gave just two stars for holistic offerings, three stars for the center's connectivity policy, and four stars for the level of family participation and affordability.

The other two loved ones offered more consistent praise for the center overall. “Counselors are great and my wife has been sober now for 6 months. life is a lot better in the household,” one of these loved ones wrote. These two reviewers gave four or five out of five stars for family participation, admissions and discharge procedures, treatment of co-occurring disorders, and staff level of training and experience.

"Accommodations, cleanliness, staff," listed a loved one, in response to facility's strengths; "too expensive," this same individual commented, regarding facility weaknesses.


According to the facility's website, some services at Bryan Independence Center are covered by insurance. This is one of the state's 57 (41.9 percent) treatment centers that accepts Medicare and one of the 108 (79.4 percent) that accepts Medicaid. For clients without insurance, a down payment is required. Payment rates are available on the facility's website.
