At Vitality Actions, chemically dependent adolescents are provided a comprehensive range of addiction treatment resources, including but not limited to mental health services, family counseling, detoxification services, drug testing and transitional housing. Treatment is provided on a residential basis and is comprised of group lectures and discussions featuring topics such as addiction, sex education, family dysfunction, self-reliance, parenting, anger management and more.

Founded in 1971 and partly funded by southern Nevada’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency (SAPTA), Vitality Unlimited is a part of Nevada’s 53.2 percent private, non-profit addiction treatment programs. Vitality ACTIONS – short for Adolescents Committed to Independence, Opportunity and a New Start – one of the organization’s facilities, started in 1989 in Elko, Nev.

This highly structured program offers residential treatment for adolescent women ages 12 to 17 who are seeking treatment for substance abuse and a co-occurring disorders. Pregnant women and intravenous drug users are given priority treatment. Vitality Actions is one of the 23 (29.9 percent) of treatment facilities in Nevada that offers priority treatment to pregnant women. Medical detox is not offered on-site.


Vitality Actions is a part of Nevada’s 23.4 percent of facilities that offer treatment specifically for adolescents. The holistic treatment program develops clients’ cognitive, behavioral, social, language, reading, vocational, and other skills to help them overcome their alcohol, drug, and related issues. The length of stay varies based on clients’ diagnosis, severity, and response to treatment.

Treatment begins with an assessment, which is carried out by a mental health professional, who can also assess potential mental health disorders. In Nevada. only 75.3 percent of facilities include assessments for mental health.

The backbone of the intensive treatment program is individual and group counseling. Working toward the goal of promoting responsibility, self-reliance, competency, and a sense of the importance of the family, among other values, treatment modalities are supplemented by life-skills training, peer assessment, experiential learning, goal setting, anger management classes, relapse prevention, and a focus on self-growth and respect for self and others.

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) classes and continued education classes are provided on-site. Clients each receive a personalized continuing care plan.


Vitality Actions is staffed 24 hours a day. The treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, rehabilitation technicians, licensed clinical addiction counselors, a dietitian, and a credentialed school teacher.


Vitality Actions provides a home-like atmosphere with dietitian-approved meals. It includes a brightly painted facility with comfortable meeting rooms, modest sleeping quarters, and a large kitchen. Communication with loved ones is restricted during treatment and smoking and smokeless tobacco use is prohibited for the duration of treatment.


At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has not received any feedback from alumni of Vitality Actions. On Google, Vitality Unlimited - Vitality Center earned an average rating of 2.9 out of five stars from 14 reviews to date.[1] Some of the reviews indicated that in the past, the facility “was great” but has declined in the past few years. Several reviewers noted that the facility was just “there to a get a paycheck” and about a lack of communication, especially with family communication.


At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has not received any feedback from the staff of Vitality Actions. On Indeed, Vitality Unlimited as a whole has an average rating of 2.8 out of five stars from 16 reviews to date.[2] Employees indicated that the company was dishonest and offered low pay.

One former employee wrote: “We were told hourly employees dont get paid holidays or anything like this, which IS NOT what we were told at the orientation or the call to offer us the jobs.” Another reviewer felt the facility was “only interested in money.”


Vitality Actions accepts most insurance policies, including Medicaid, and offers a sliding fee scale for qualifying clients.
