ABOUT ALPHA HEALING CENTER

Located in Jersey City, N.J., the Alpha Healing Center offers outpatient treatment for men and women seeking treatment for addiction. Modalities include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and a traditional outpatient program (OP). The facility also offers treatment to clients with co-occurring disorders, and buprenorphine-assisted opioid detox is available on an outpatient basis. The center is among the 7.3 percent of New Jersey facilities to offer some form of outpatient-based detox service.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at Alpha Healing Center begins with a comprehensive evaluation upon admission. This assessment examines each client’s current physical and mental condition while reviewing the client’s history of addiction. That way, the treatment team can determine the best method of treatment for each client.

The Alpha Healing Center offers a multi-faceted approach to alcohol and drug treatment focused on holistic recovery and individualized treatment. Treatment is evidence-based and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), cognitive analytic therapy, and medication management.

The PHP provides short-term stabilization with approximately 25 hours of programming per week, while the IOP program includes nine to 12 hours of weekly treatment. Both courses include group therapy, family therapy, psychoeducation classes, and individual counseling. The OP offers relapse prevention-based counseling and is much less structured than the other two outpatient options.

Holistic treatments such as music and art therapy, yoga, spirituality, prayer, and mindfulness meditation are also key program components. In group therapy, clients learn emotional regulation techniques such as anger management. Clients also work on coping skills, stress reduction, and more.

During treatment, clients can also participate in a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program. Clients gain access to Suboxone, which is administered to reduce the impact of opioid withdrawal. In New Jersey, 26.7 percent of facilities also offer Suboxone treatment. Personalized aftercare planning is also available, which may include referrals to sober living facilities and community support groups.
