I went into GB In Denial, Kicking and Screaming, seeing all these patients laughing and talking. I thought they had all lost it. My denial was hard to break and my Escape plans Plentiful, it took only a few days there to. Breakthrough all of that and then Some! The education my family and I received was amazing, the Counselors work their asses off , theres always a few who it won’t ever get Through to. Yes they DO repeat some lectures and classes, that’s only Bc. addiction wasn’t learned overnight it was , Ingrained into us. So will recovery, a lot of things need to be said in many different ways until it finally resonates. It does push NA/AA for after you are discharged it is looked at like our “medication” if you will, most Addicts have other Mental Health issues. That Hopefully they address as well after leaving GB. They encourage Psychiatry, private Counseling, all in conjunction with AA/NA. Staying sober isn’t easy and most tend to pick and choose what suggestions they will follow, wether they “need” meetings or not . They may skip steps, get Complacent, many different reasons for relapsing. But if you Follow all there Suggestions, getting a higher power, a Sponsor, a home group, stay away from people, places & things. One will remain sober. Its simple, we complicate it , i was 35, fee yrs ago , and after BG I hadn’t felt that good since I was in my teens! Actually , I felt better then I ever did in my entire life! My Kids, Amy Husband, My Family, parents , siblings , Friends. Were actually ASTONISHED at the change that had Occurred in me after discharge. And they continued to. Be! Unfortunately two months out of rehab my mother died very suddenly & Morbidly. I hung in there until I stopped doing what I was supposed to be doing , out of Self pity. And frankly they did say I was far too early In my recovery to deal with such a blow, (they said that after I relapsed not before) but I went right back to GB and had the same experience and have remained clean , since then I have had a few friends and extended family members go there and they too ended up not wanting to leave also ! It’s very safe & clean . I can’t say enough great things about GB and Brian Elison is a Wonderful Asset to this facility !
Beds become available faster than other nearby facilities. Poor percentage of clients who maintain sobriety. I know of quite a few people who went through this facility and many of them were using IN the facility. The staff does not seem qualified to do their jobs.
