Pacific Ridge, located in Salem, Ore., is one of the state's 43 (19.3 percent) facilities that offers residential treatment to adults struggling with chemical dependency. Set on an 18-acre campus in a country setting about an hour outside of Portland, the facility is privately owned and operated. The facility also offers on-site detox services - placing it amongst the just 10.8 percent of facilities in the state with this option - including Suboxone treatment for opiate addiction.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Though a waiting period may be applied, Pacific Ridge’s website indicates that most clients are admitted within one or two days. The treatment philosophy at Pacific Ridge views chemical dependency as a treatable illness and emphasizes family involvement as integral to recovery. Treatment, including length of stay, is individualized to each client.

During the residential program, a typical daily schedule includes physical fitness activities, two group counseling sessions, education on addiction, nutrition, and relapse prevention, meals, and breaks for quiet time. Clients also regularly participate in individual and family counseling sessions. In addition, clients are introduced to the principles and practices of 12-Step.

Residents may also participate in services to help them quit smoking - both nicotine and cannabis products. However, of note, the facility does allow smoking on the premises and even designates times throughout the day when residents may smoke.

Once a client completes treatment, the facility may offer referrals for outpatient care, including referrals to buprenorphine-certified physicians to continue a Suboxone or Subutex regimen.
