ABOUT CITYTEAM - PORTLAND
Cityteam is one of Oregon’s 125 (55.3 percent) of private, nonprofit treatment organizations. It offers faith-based treatment and is dedicated to helping individuals facing poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse. The Portland facility has a residential program and a homeless shelter for men, as well as a daytime program for women and a dining hall for all individuals in need of food. Detox is not available.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The treatment process at Cityteam begins with comprehensive assessments. The process includes a substance abuse assessment as well as a comprehensive mental health assessment, which is only available in 120 (53.1 percent) of Oregon facilities.
In addition to shelter, the men's Christ-centered residential program provides clients with access to Cityteam's Learning and Career Enhancement Center. There, clients participate in an individually designed curriculum that addresses basic skills such as reading, math, vocabulary, and writing. The center's self-paced program helps students learn to function in a professional environment with schedules, deadlines, and responsibilities. Clients are also given access to business clothes for upcoming interviews. It is one of the 101 (44.7 percent) employment training programs in the state.
The women's program is open three times a week and provides homeless and low-income women with hot showers, clothing, food, and fellowship. Bible study classes are also offered. The facility also provides long-term placement and treatment options to combat homelessness.
Services at Cityteam are made possible by the help of volunteers and donors. There are social workers on staff as well as counselors to help coordinate care.
