ABOUT RIMROCK TRAILS ADOLESCENT TREATMENT SERVICES
Founded in 1990, Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services (ATS) offers residential care for youth aged 12 to 17 and outpatient programming for youth and young adults. The rehab center, headquartered in the central Oregon town of Prineville, is among Oregon’s 33 (just 14.6 percent) to provide long-term residential treatment. Nationally, just 26 percent of treatment facilities offer programming tailored for adolescents. Rimrock Trails specializes in dual diagnosis treatment and holistic care.
In addition to Prineville, outpatient programming is available in Bend and Redmond.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Services at Rimrock Trails begin with a biopsychosocial assessment conducted by a clinical therapist, according to the facility’s website. The length of treatment varies depending on the client's level of need, but is typically between two and six months, with an average of 12 weeks for outpatient programs.
In Oregon, 51.8 percent of treatment facilities offer treatment tailored for clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. At Rimrock Trails ATS, evidence-based dual diagnosis treatment is integrated, designed to help residents to regulate their emotions, build interpersonal skills, and tolerate distress.
In pursuit of these goals, the center emphasizes experiential therapies such as art therapy, outdoor excursions, and equine therapy. In addition, the center uses a strengths-based, trauma-informed modality called collaborative problem solving (CPS). Clients can expect to participate in a mix of practices drawing from SMART Recovery and the 12-Steps, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR),
Rimrock Trails also stresses the importance of aftercare, providing a monitoring service as well as referrals to local resources.
