ABOUT HUNTINGTON CREEK RECOVERY CENTER
Set on 39 scenic rural acres, Huntington Creek Recovery Center, located in Shickshinny, Pa., is one of the state's 143 (27.1 percent) treatment centers offering private residential treatment for adults. Medically monitored on-site detox is also available, making it one of the only 43 (8.1 percent) facilities in the state offering this service. The facility was formerly known as Clearbrook Lodge.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The facility’s program begins with a medical detox, if necessary, in a non-hospital setting with around-the-clock nursing care provided. On average, clients remain in detox for four to five days for alcohol detox, seven to eight days for opiate detox, and 10-12 days for benzodiazepine detox. Upon completion of detox, clients then begin their primary treatment program.
The treatment program is based around 12-Step and includes regular Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, AA Big Book and NA Basic Text study sessions, Living Sober workshop groups, and educational lectures. Clients also receive individual counseling twice per week and participate in two and a half hours of group therapy daily.
Family involvement is strongly encouraged and the facility offers weekly family visitation and education groups on Sundays, as well as private family therapy sessions. Alumni aftercare meetings and support are also available.
Huntington Creek Recovery Center's treatment team includes a doctor and a 24-hour nursing staff, as well as certified alcohol and drug counselors, licensed social workers, and master's level therapists. The staff-to-client ratio is 1:4. In the state of Pennsylvania, 98.7 percent of all substance abuse treatment centers have higher education requirements for staff.
