Facility Highlights

  • Neurofeedback Therapy
  • Family Support and Treatment
  • College Success Program

  • Detox

Though not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using.
  • Residential Treatment

Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.

Caron has numerous facilities located nationwide including in New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and New England. Outpatient services are offered at other Caron treatment centers, including at the nearby Wyomissing, Pa., facility.

Caron’s treatment team takes an in-depth approach to client evaluation by using the first five days of a client’s stay to conduct a comprehensive assessment in order to create an individualized treatment plan for each client. Clients who require medical care and monitoring typically begin with detox.

Once stabilized, clients move on to residential treatment, which is gender-specific and age-appropriate. Caron's Pennsylvania location is also one of 98 rehab facilities in the state (19.5 percent of all facilities) to offer a program tailored to LGBT individuals. A variety of other specialized programs are also offered, such as those for legal and healthcare professionals.

Programming is grounded in 12-step principles and includes individual counseling, process groups, and family therapy. Neurofeedback therapy is used to manage moods and anxiety, and clients attend educational workshops on addiction and relapse prevention.

For clients who are still attending school, Caron offers on-site education and GED tutoring and testing. Adult clients may access vocational training and programming designed to prepare them for steady employment. Continuing care and an online aftercare program are available for clients who complete treatment.

Caron’s staff includes physicians, psychologists, master’s-level therapists, social workers, certified counselors, and other healthcare professionals. Caron’s mountain top location is surrounded by natural landscapes and well-manicured grounds. The facility itself has a college campus feel, with a state-of-the-art cafeteria, indoor gymnasium, chapel, exercise facility, and designated lounge areas. However, P.R.'s commentary was also indicative of the consensus that treatment was expensive.
