ABOUT ENGLISH MOUNTAIN RECOVERY
From a sprawling, 27-acre property in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains, English Mountain Recovery provides residential treatment for adult men and women struggling with substance use disorder and dual diagnosis. The center doesn't currently specify whether medical detox is available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Individualized treatment programs typically last 90 days, though shorter stays of 30 and 60 days can be arranged. Either way, English Mountain Recovery is among the 24.9 percent of rehabs in Tennessee that offer residential treatment lasting longer than 90 days.
Treatment plans are gender-specific and rooted in the 12-steps. Clients will participate in individual and group therapy. Men attend groups focused on anger management and managing emotions, while group counseling sessions for women may focus on issues such as domestic violence, for which 14.7 percent of Tennessee rehabs offer dedicated counseling, self-esteem, and trauma. Men and women alike explore professional pressures, spirituality, and family and parenting.
English Mountain Recovery employs holistic treatments such as art therapy — including painting, rock sculpture, and drawing — music therapy, and psychodrama. On the more adventurous end of the spectrum, there's equine therapy and a low ropes course.
Clients' families are invited to participate in group therapy, personal exercises, lectures, and discussions. Before discharge, clients also receive relapse prevention training and aftercare planning to help them as they transition into life after treatment.
