Years of hands-on experience with clients suffering from substance abuse and dependence has allowed Nova Recovery Center to develop a comprehensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation program to treat the deep underlying issues surrounding each individual’s addiction. Our strategy incorporates recovery support and clinical treatment programming to facilitate a stronger foundation for individuals in early recovery. It is a solid plan that gives each client the sturdy base he or she needs to recover, restore, and rebuild.

Facility Highlights

  • Conveniently located
  • Meeting 3 times a week
  • Teaches very useful sober skills

Specialization

  • Intensive Outpatient

Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

ABOUT NOVA RECOVERY CENTER - AUSTIN INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT

Nova Recovery Center is a private company that operates four facilities in Texas: Hill Country Detox in Buda; a residential center in Wimberley, also in Hill Country; and outpatient centers in Houston and at the address given on this page, in northeast Austin.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The Austin facility offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which can be followed either as entry-level care or as a step-down from more intensive residential treatment or detox.

Participants meet three times a week for eight weeks, participating in individual and group counseling sessions as well as educational lectures. The treatment ethos is traditional: Nova Recovery Center facilitates the use of the 12-steps and supplements them with common evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and contingency management (CM), a behavioral therapy that uses positive reinforcement to change behavior. The program aims to provide education about addiction and recovery, peer support, and counseling for any particular difficulties the client is facing.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The organization's medical team includes two board-certified psychiatrists, and the clinical director is a licensed professional counselor. However, it's not clear which if any of these staff are stationed at the Austin IOP center.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Elsewhere in Austin, Nova Recovery Center operates sober-living homes for men, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community through its sister company Eudaimonia Recovery Homes; some clients live in these homes while completing the Austin IOP.

REVIEWS

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff, and secondary sites yielded mostly positive coverage at the time of this writing: four five-star ratings on Google, and on Yelp, a two-star rating and a five-star rating — though it should be noted that this five-star review on Yelp is duplicated on Google.[1] [2] "I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help and patience you had with us... You changed his life forever in a good way. He is truly blessed," this reviewer, N.S., wrote of their son's stay. "Great place," Melina wrote on Google in the only other piece of positive commentary.

"The place was nice, but the price is crap. Website is misleading about accepting your insurance," S.G. wrote on Yelp in the only remaining piece of commentary.

FINANCING

"Nova is primarily a private pay facility," notes the organization's website. However, some insurance is accepted, on an out-of-network basis only. The organization has relationships with two medical loans companies, for those who must borrow money in order to access treatment.
