Rehabs 360 Guide

Recovery Unplugged Texas offers adults who are struggling with substance use disorder the opportunity to work through recovery by participating in music-based and traditional therapy. The Austin-based rehab center is geared toward clients who have chronically relapsed following previous rehab experiences. Modalities include residential and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs). The facility is also one of 44 non-hospital substance abuse treatment centers in Texas (just nine percent of all facilities in the state) to offer medical detox.

Clients write, study, produce, and perform music at Recovery Unplugged. According to the facility, this process helps individuals affected by addiction to express their emotions through self-discovery and constructive channeling. Some participants have never played an instrument before beginning the Austin program.

The average residential rehab stay is 28 to 45 days. Treatment begins with medically supervised detoxification and continues through a comprehensive and customized program that integrates traditional, evidence-based treatment practices with innovative, effective music-based therapy.

Exercises such as listening to songs about addiction and recovery, drumming, and karaoke are combined with individual and group counseling. Holistic activities like yoga and other fitness therapies are offered to help clients heal from chemical dependency and its physical, social, and psychological consequences.
