    K. Britt Mullins B.S., LCDCCounselor
My name is Britt Mullins and I am a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). In addition, I have a B.S. in Health Education from Texas A&M University and a background in business management. After struggling with alcoholism and addiction much of my adult life I finally made the decision to ask for help. I was immediately blessed to have many caring, nurturing counselors involved in my recovery program who believed in me when I sometimes didn’t believe in myself. It was during this time I discovered my interest in addiction treatment and soon developed a strong passion to bring healing to others who have been caught in the grip of chemical addiction as I had been.
  • Jerry Winn
    Jerry WinnCounselor
I have earned a Master’s in Addiction Counseling and I am a LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor). I am also an ACPS (Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist), which is a certification by TCBAP (Texas Credentialing Board of Addiction Professionals). I worked 3.5 years teaching life skills to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Most recently, I spent 2.5 years working at a men's intensive residential facility in Houston, Texas. My work has focused on men who struggled with substance dependency and often, mental health issues. My wife is currently a LCDCI (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern) and a CPS (Certified Prevention Specialist) also. For myself, I chose to get into the counseling field because I had some really wonderful counselors in my own life.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Located in Bryan, Texas, 3rd Day Treatment Center, LLC, provides standard (SOP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 53.8 percent of rehabs in Texas offer IOP. The facility also provides ongoing follow-up services.

Upon admission into the outpatient program, clients participate in an initial assessment designed to identify specific needs and help clinicians form a personalized treatment plan. The center's treatment program combines 12-step facilitation, evidence-based treatments, and spiritual counseling. The IOP lasts 12 weeks.

During the IOP, clients participate in a range of counseling sessions to help individuals understand, identify, and modify any underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior. Each week, clients attend two group counseling sessions, which last three hours, as well as one individual counseling session and one family counseling session.

To further involve loved ones in the recovery process, 3rd Day Treatment Center facilitates a family program, which includes counseling and educational classes on topics such as codependency and family stress management. Counseling sessions may also address mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 44.8 percent of rehabs in Texas offer treatment for co-occurring disorders such as these.

In addition to counseling sessions, the facility also holds educational workshops on a range of topics to help clients maintain sobriety, including the disease concept of addiction, relapse prevention techniques, improving interpersonal skills, forming healthy boundaries, spirituality, and enhancing communication and problem-solving skills.

Along with weekly counseling sessions, 3rd Day Treatment Center considers 12-step involvement a crucial component to sustaining recovery. To participate in the IOP, clients are required to attend 12-step meetings within the community and obtain a 12-step sponsor.

Throughout treatment, clinicians coordinate with the client to create a comprehensive discharge plan. To provide additional support while the client implements their aftercare plan, clinicians provide monitoring services, helping to ensure the individual adheres to aspects of the plan, such as meeting with their referred therapist.

Treatment also includes vocational support. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 37.8 percent of rehabs in Texas offer some kind of employment counseling or training for clients.

The clinical staff at 3rd Day Treatment Center is comprised of the husband/wife team who founded the center. Both are licensed chemical dependency counselors (LCDC) while one also holds certification as an alcohol and drug counselor (ADC) and advanced certified prevention specialist (ACPS).
