ABOUT REAL DEAL RECOVERY
Founded in 2015, Real Deal's Northeast Dallas location provides sober living support for men who have recently begun their recovery from drug and alcohol misuse. A self-described “clean living company,” Real Deal Recovery runs six Texas-based facilities, in Dallas, Richardson, and Plano. Other locations offer services such as drug and alcohol rehab and sober living support for women. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 45.2 percent of rehabs in Texas offered a program specifically tailored to adult men.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Real Deal Recovery is intended for individuals who have completed inpatient treatment but are not yet ready to return to their everyday lives. The center’s programming is designed to accommodate clients for six months or longer.
While the organization does not provide treatment, clients are required to attend 12-step meetings three times per week, and recovery coaching is included for the first six weeks of residency. For an extra fee, coaching is also available after the initial six weeks of a client’s stay.
The center's program is highly structured; clients must adhere to a curfew, complete daily chores, find a sponsor, and agree to random urine tests. Within one month of admission, clients must secure a full-time job or enroll in school. Real Deal works with an employment agency to help clients find employment, placing the organization among the 163 facilities (37.8 percent) in Texas to offer clients employment counseling or training.
According to its website, Real Deal Recovery’s staff is comprised of individuals who have personal experience with recovery.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Real Deal Recovery’s Dallas-based home can accommodate up to six men at a time, making the facility far smaller than the typical residential rehab in Texas, which, on average, can accommodate up to 44 people.
Bedrooms are furnished with two twin beds and a flat-screen TV, and the home includes a full kitchen, dining room, living room, and basement game room. All food is included as part of the program. During their stay, clients are provided with a membership to a local gym, and the home is located within walking distance of a bus stop.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Both alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave positive reviews. Of the two, one alum, E.L., was surveyed on more granular metrics. When asked how likely they were to recommend Real Deal Recovery to others, E.L. rated the facility a perfect five stars. E.L. also gave the facility perfect five-star ratings for counseling options, family participation, holistic offerings, and cleanliness.
The other alum, G., wrote in a representative review: "I have to say it was the best experience I've ever had in a sober living facility...with all the amenities included in the monthly fee it is actually very inexpensive and a great place to begin a program of sobriety or continue a program for those already in the 12-step realm."
Nearly all reviews submitted to third-party sites were positive. On the facility's Facebook page, which it may manage, eight users all rated the facility a perfect five stars. In a representative review, alum Josh wrote: An amazing and God sent facility. Parker and his team have what it takes to change a life." On Google, 20 users who submitted overwhelmingly positive reviews rated the facility an average of 4.8 out of five stars.
There are three pricing levels for Real Deal programs which differ in the amenities offered: Real Deal Barebones for $900/month, Real Deal Signature for $2,000/month, and a private-living option for $5,473/month.
