Counselors genuinely care about my happiness and sobriety. The facility feels safe and welcoming. Everyone knows my name and is happy to see me.
All said, a smooth experience that helped me break my daily-drinking cycle. The program has changed over the years -- things are more flexible now (ie phone use, movement around the facility) but the amenities listed on the website aren't all there or are limited in ways not immediately clear from the website, though the fact they're there at all is more than what you'll see at most facilities (ie indoor pool, hot tub, gym, yoga, etc.). Good variety of food and the kitchen staff is very nice about trying to accommodate requests. The therapy aspects itself is a little hit and miss in my experience, but if you're genuinely curious about the material you'll have opportunities to go more in depth on your own time. The things that helped the most for me personally was connecting with other patients, getting out of my routine/day-to-day triggers, and taking time for self-reflection.
