I have treated clients successfully as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 24 years specializing in marriage and family counseling in addition to substance abuse and addiction issues. I have used clinical hypnotherapy for over 18 years to help resolve trauma issues and help people stop smoking and address a myriad of issues using our subconscious mind as a resource. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a supervisor for LPC Interns. My approach is to be active in your counseling experience, to give you observations and input with respect to your options and alternatives. Although I cannot make decisions for you, I believe people come to counseling after they have exhausted their own resources and are looking for information and ideas about how to proceed. There are skills and methods that really will help you to feel better and relate differently to others. Once you decide to move forward, things change quickly for the better. Just getting started in counseling is a great stride forward for you and opens the door to much more growth and progress. I want you to know that you can turn things around. All it takes is a phone call and a willingness to get started.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Located in San Antonio, Texas, A Turning Point Counseling and Rehab Center provides outpatient-based services for individuals struggling with chemical dependency, mental health concerns, and co-occurring disorders. Along with comprehensive, age-specific outpatient programs and aftercare for adults and adolescents, the facility also provides a range of counseling services.

Upon admission into the outpatient program, clients may participate in a substance abuse history assessment to help clinicians form an individualized plan of care. Individuals struggling with chemical dependency may be referred to A Turning Point's outpatient program. Both the adolescent and adult outpatient programs last eight weeks.

To treat its clientele, A Turning Point Counseling and Rehab Center combines 12-step principles and practices with evidence-based treatment approaches. The outpatient program involves group counseling sessions, as well as family counseling and one-on-one therapy sessions once a week. According to the facility's website, counseling sessions are designed to "address underlying emotional and situational issues that affect the specific addiction."

In addition to counseling sessions, A Turning Point incorporates a range of educational classes that help clients develop skills to maintain recovery. Clients may also attend workshops regarding the 12-step process of recovery, be encouraged to attend 12-step meetings within the community, and study fellowship literature. The facility also offers hypnotherapy sessions and Integral Breath Therapy (breathwork) to assist individuals struggling with co-occurring difficulties related to trauma, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The facility's outpatient program for adolescents follows the same format as the adult program. However, A Turning Point tailors the program to address issues common among adolescents struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring concerns. For example, counseling sessions may focus on peer pressure, low self-esteem, family conflict, and academic issues. Both adults and adolescents are required to submit to regular drug testing to promote accountability. Once a client completes the eight-week program, A Turning Point provides weekly aftercare sessions focusing on recovery maintenance at no charge.

Along with its outpatient programs, the facility also provides individual, couples, and family therapy sessions. Hypnotherapy sessions and Integral Breathing Therapy sessions are also available. Unique to the facility, A Turning Point offers in-person counseling services, as well as teletherapy via online video conferencing.

A Turning Point Counseling and Rehab Center employs a team of masters-level counselors and therapists. According to the facility's website, group counseling sessions typically treat between three and six clients, ensuring a low staff-to-client ratio.
