ABOUT FAMILY HEALTH CENTER – BROADWAY CAMPUS

The nonprofit community health agency Family Health Center operates clinics in Washington’s Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, and Pacific counties. Situated in Longview, the agency’s Broadway Campus offers residential treatment for pregnant, postpartum, and mothering women struggling with substance use disorders. Of Washington state’s 396 treatment facilities, just nine (2.3 percent) provide residential beds to clients’ children. Broadway residents may stay with dependent children under the age of six.

In addition to behavioral health care service, Family Health Center provides family planning services, prenatal care, dental services, health insurance, and specialty hospital care. Addiction treatment is also available at the agency’s co-ed residential Toutle River Campus in Castle Rock. Family Health Center merged with Drug Abuse Prevention Center in 2015.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The women’s long-term residential program at Family Health Center’s Broadway Campus runs for six months, placing it within the 8.3 percent of Washington facilities offering residential treatment for 30 days or more. The program addresses issues relevant to women parenting young children, and childcare services are provided while mothers are in treatment.

Treatment involves medication management and counseling, and clients receiving medical treatment for opioid dependency are accepted. According to a national directory of treatment facilities, the center’s therapeutic modalities include 12-step facilitation, trauma-informed counseling, motivational interviewing, anger management training, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Residents also receive access to health education, physical health care, and other community services.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the Family Health Center employs on-site psychiatric nurses and counselors trained in both addiction and mental health treatment.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There currently is no information provided on the facility's website or otherwise regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, the two alumni polled to date by Rehabs.com agreed that the Broadway Campus facility of Family Health Center in Longview was clean and well-maintained (indicated by ratings of four out of five stars).

The two also shared three-star ratings for exercise and leisure activities. In contrast, one reviewer complained about too many rules and a strict atmosphere, while the other cited “structure” as a strength.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Feedback for the Family Health Center Broadway Campus at the time of this writing was generally positive, particularly highlighting the quality of treatment staff and outcomes achieved through the program. One of two alumni polled by Rehabs.com represented staff as “understanding,” and the two awarded four and five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience. They identified coping skills and support for multiple areas of behavior modification as program strengths.

Opinions were mixed on the flexibility of treatment provided, indicated by two and four stars respectively for counseling options. They gave two and three stars for the program’s family participation. Elsewhere, the Broadway Campus received one Google rating of four out of five stars.^[1]

WHAT STAFF SAY

Two employees had reviewed the Broadway addiction treatment center on Indeed, at the time of this writing. Both presented a fast-paced setting requiring extensive hours. One highlighted the training they received to perform their Family Health Center job. “Work can be stressful and chaotic yet rewarding,” wrote one staffer in a representative review.

FINANCING

Family Health Center programming is targeted for low-income clients. The facilities accept Washington’s Apple Health Medicaid, TRICARE, Medicare, and numerous private health insurance plans. Some clients are also eligible for a sliding fee scale. In Washington, the facility is among the 20.2 percent of facilities to accepts Medicare.
