Rehabs 360 Guide

Trinity Teen Solutions (TTS) is a Christian-based, state-licensed treatment center with both long-term residential and outpatient programs for girls between the ages of 12 and 17.

Bordering the renowned Yellowstone National Park in northern Wyoming, TTS combines its natural mountainous atmosphere with evidence-based, individualized programming to help teenage girls struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, academic and behavioral challenges, and other issues.

TTS is also one of just 10 centers in the state of Wyoming that offers on-site detoxification services. The residential program for teenage girls - one of just 19 (40.4 percent of) dedicated exclusively for teens - typically lasts around three to six months.

Clients begin the process with an initial consultation that helps staff properly design a personally tailored plan of care. While encouragement is placed largely on embracing core Christian morals and values, the ranch also employs a combination of traditional talk therapy and experiential, hands-on treatments like wilderness therapy, animal therapy and equine assisted psychotherapy.

The center additionally makes use of evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and rational emotive behavioral therapy.

Across all of its programs, families are strongly encouraged to participate in their loved one’s treatment. This may involve individual therapy sessions with parents and children as well as phone conferencing and regular updates on client progress. The facility also provides sessions based on various techniques of family systems therapy.

Relative to facilities statewide, the residential program at TTS is one of just 21 in the state. For those stepping down from residential care or seeking outpatient treatment from the start, the facility’s partial hospitalization program (PHP) is one of just five (10.6 percent) of in the state; its intensive outpatient program (IOP) is one of just 33 (70.2 percent) of statewide.

The team at Trinity Teen Solutions includes master's level therapists, psychiatric and registered nurses, life coaches, equine specialists, and teachers. Some staff live on the premises. The ratio of staff to clients is 1:5.

Situated on a 4,000-acre ranch in Powell, Wyo., at the base of the Beartooth Mountain Range, the 14-bed facility has rustic cabins where the girls and staff reside. In addition to their daily therapy sessions and activities, girls perform ranch work and daily chores.

Feedback from a dozen alumni polled by Rehabs.com on their personal experiences was very mixed. On one end, some former clients used words such as “traumatizing,” and “abusive” to describe their experience. Alumni also left warnings to prospective clientele - “Don’t waste your money” - and described to Rehabs.com what they experienced as “highly unprofessional staff and therapy strategies.” “Me and my mother have yet to get past the experience and broken trust that came from my stay there,” S.B., one of several disappointed alumni, wrote.

Other alumni, much in contrast, found TTS an “amazing place... to heal.” Alum Eve, for instance, credited the program with saving her life, telling Rehabs.com that hers was an “amazing, once in a lifetime opportunities for me to learn to heal myself.” “The skills I learned there taught me how to become successful in the real world I wouldn't have been able to graduate college or have a good career that I do now,” added five-star reviewer Kelly.

TTS also has mixed coverage across secondary sources. To date, the facility has average ratings of 3.8 and 2.5 out of five stars based on 31 Google reviews and eight Yelp reviews.[1][2]

Reviews written by seven family members reflect the wide range of alumni experiences reported above. As with alumni, some parents warned others not to send their daughters to TTS. “They do NOT solve any of the problems your teen is facing- in fact, they make them worse!” wrote Michelle in a representative Rehabs.com review.

Other loved ones, by contrast, told Rehabs.com how effective TTS was in helping turn their child’s life around. “My daughter truly believes that the treatment at Trinity saved her life and her soul,” wrote Gary, one of just two loved ones who awarded the facility five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness. “Trinity is so unique and the treatment they used really helped my daughter get over her traumas along with get her life back on track,” Arnold added.

Trinity Teen Solutions accepts all major private insurance plans like Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. For more information on out of pocket expenses, prospective clients and their families can review the facility’s online insurance application.
