Treatment Philosophy
Our approach to addiction treatment is a holistic one, seeking to restore hope and health to individuals who come to us out of painful, self-destructive patterns. It’s not enough to end a physical dependency through successful medical detox. On the other side of that first step, the recovering alcoholic or addict must have the right support in place to break those old habits and replace them with new ones. He or she must find a new way to fill the void that drugs or alcohol once did — essentially, find a new meaning in life.

Treatment Philosophy
Serving the greater Mississippi area, Oxford provides an individualized treatment program for each client. We know that every person has a unique story and unique goals for recovery, so you’ll receive a personalized treatment plan, created for you by our caring and qualified team, that will be tailored to your individual goals and needs. Our continuum of care will ensure that you’ll have every step of treatment you need. Whether you need an intensive outpatient program or aftercare, you’ll find a comprehensive program at Oxford. We offer a wide range of therapies and treatment modalities to help you achieve your goal of recovery. We capitalize on our scenic location near a national forest, and incorporate outdoor activates, such as hiking and horseback riding, into our therapies. We also offer music, art, and trauma-informed therapies, in addition to the usual group and individual therapy courses. We also have a variety of treatment modalities, including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and dialectical behavior therapy. Recovery involves much more than giving up substances; it involves a whole new way of living and connecting with yourself and others. At Oxford, we have an ideal environment that allows us to provide a whole host of activities and amenities that allow you to connect to nature, reflect, restore your physical health, and reconnect. Whether you want to focus on strengthening your body at our fitness centers, meditate on the banks of our private lake, or work with animals in our equine therapy program, our facility will provide a variety of features to not only make your time with us enjoyable, but to give you the best possible head start in recovery. While your recovery toolkit will have filled up nicely by the end of your time with us, not everybody is ready to move forward alone. Oxford’s aftercare planners and alumni coordinators will make sure you have a plan and a support network for transitioning back into the world after treatment. We also know the importance of making and maintaining a network of sober individuals, so we’ll connect you with local AA and 12-step chapters and with a national alumni network to provide you with a comprehensive support network for recovery.

Extra Mile Recovery for Men

Patients are assessed upon entering treatment by clinical and medical staff to ensure the most efficient treatment plan for their stay at The Mile. Each person that enrolls in our treatment program is given maximum face time with clinical staff to aid them through every step of their journey. Every staff member has a personal experience with recovery that offers experience, strength and hope to each patient. Caring staff that are able to relate to patients, excellent food, serene campus located in the hills of North Mississippi.

The number of drug overdoses involving opioids continues to be a major public health problem across the nation. In 2015, more than 33,000 people died from opioid overdose.2 Mississippi residents have felt the unfortunate consequences of the opioid epidemic:

  • Hydrocodone was the most commonly prescribed opioid (2,020,974 prescriptions), followed by tramadol (521,093 prescriptions), and oxycodone (449,243 prescriptions).3
  • Between 2010 to 2011, 142 babies were born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) because their mothers used opioids during pregnancy. There were 2.7 NAS-related hospitalizations per every 1,000 neonatal stays.4
